Fear and loathing in Huntsvegas
Ten things I’ve learned this past week:
- Fear is bullshit. Fear nothing.
- No matter how much someone tells you something is going to hurt, it probably won’t hurt that bad.
- Unless they’re talking about removing a catheter. That hurts fifty times more than they tell you.
- Maybe a hundred times more.
- You don’t need the pain meds for more than a day.
- Scratching an itch is one of life’s great pleasures.
- Emptying a drainage bulb is not.
- You can cover a lot of area with two pounds of skin.
- That tape only seems like it’s not sticking.
- My wife, even though she hovers (and worries too much about me), is a godsend.
Now, I’m pretty sure I’ve said everything I have to say about this matter, so please quit emailing me and asking. There are some things in my life I simply don’t want to share with the world, and you’ll have to learn to live with that disappointment.
Unless I decide to say more, of course.
Life is boring right now; entries may be sparse for a few days because I’m not doing much of anything except sitting, eating, and sleeping, and writing about that’s even more boring than my cat stories.
