If you get a chance, Joe Kita’s book Another Shot is pretty damn good. Especially if you’re a guy.

Because I’ve spent most of the week proofing the interior layout of my book (just about done, hallelujah!), I’ve done absolutely nothing worth writing about. However, I feel guilty if I don’t post something semi-regularly (who loves his readers?), so that means you get some pictures of what’s going on around here right now, in lieu of a real entry.

time in the garage behind the weight tree.

Anyone know how to tell when these things are ripe?
Do they turn red, or what?

Our butterfly bush, which was a stick last year (literally) when
Robyn got it in the mail. This thing grew like nobody’s business,
and is now close to seven feet tall.

Some of the rose-replacing Indian hawthorne I planted
earlier this week. We’re practically Japanese beetle free now.

One of the cantaloupe plants I planted as a lark.
Every day I check to see if one of the flowers is turning into a cantaloupe,
but no such luck yet. Hmph.

The other night I put out catnip for the kitties. All but Fancypants, who’s still gone. Tubby went apeshit, as usual, and began doing what we fondly refer to as "licking carpet" and "munching rug" (hello, Googlers!).

Of course I had the camera, and once again I was patient, and snapped a good one:
