Adventures in freakdom.
September 3, 2003
So did you have a good Labor Day? We did. We headed for the mountain — Montesano — where we grilled burgers, and had them with some fine tater salad (not the Ron White variety) and some Justin Wilson coleslaw.
Of course we took the camera.

The view from the picnic area.

Looking back up a section of the picnic area, toward
the big pavilion.

Another section of the picnic area.
Fascinating, no?

Still more picnic area.

A photograph of the rare and dangerous
Dorkus Americanus in the wild.

A big rock overhang.

The spud spotted this spicebush swallowtail caterpillar
working his way across the path we were walking.
His big black "eye" camouflage markings were pretty slick.
After we left, I took a wrong turn out of the park and we ended up somewhere we’d never been before: a scenic overlook that was just plain staggering. I took a series of pictures, which I’ve stitched together and put (full-sized) right here for your viewing pleasure.
Dude. I was in the news room of a local station today. It was pretty cool — I saw all the anchor people we normally see on the evening news, and spoke briefly with Melissa, who did a story about me last year on this same station.
I felt like I was the only person in the area not wearing makeup.
