Oh yeah. I forgot to mention Tuesday when I talked about the shaving stuff: my face is MUCH less dry than before I started shaving with the grain. Apparently I was annoying the fool out of my skin by going the wrong way with the blade.

Being wrong for so long about something like that just kind of sucks.

In trying to “Save target as…” I get an error message saying the server cannot be found. :~(

Hmm. It just let me do it. I stored the file on my other site so as to not chew up bandwidth on this one. Give it a while and try again.

    It’s working now. :~)

Bravo! I renew my plea to have you make an audiobook from “Chunk to Hunk”. You have a charming voice, rather melodious on the clip, that I (and I’d wager, others,) would find very motivating on our daily walks/workouts.

Robyn sure is lucky to have found you. ‘Course, I told her that YOU were the lucky one awhile back.

Great clip. Hope it boosts book sales for you!

    Cheers!

Bu..bu..but..where is the footage of Robyn? Hrmfph.

Robyn doesn’t do television anymore. :P

It’s a great clip, Fred. You’re such an inspiration! Does Oprah know about you???

That was an excellent piece. I hope you get a surge of book orders from the exposure. Good for you Fred!

Fred, you’re awesome. I was having a pretty depressing past 2 days, just from the things I’ve been exposed to on my clinical rotation in the mental health unit (nursing school), and when I came home tonight and watched your piece, it picked me right back up, and renewed the overall good feeling I get whenever I hear/see/read about your incredible accomplishment.

Thanks, and yay for you!!! TV does you well, and I agree with the above comment about you reading the book: your voice is very pleasant and soothing on the ears.

I got to see it on the news last night and I was very impressed. I finally can put a voice with the face. Great job Fred!!!!!!

Great clip Fred, thanks for sharing. You and your story came out great in that news piece.

Yes, Oprah, does she know? I’ve been waiting for that, so I can watch my 5th or so Oprah episode :) You would be great for her show. Seriously.

Great clip Fred! (No problems here with the sound). Gotta love that Newsanchor speak at the end - “Looking good” “Absoulutely!” Thank you for being a constant inspiration.

I thought it was great. How funny is this? It never occurred to me that you would have a southern accent. I was caught off guard. But the above is right on, you have a very nice speaking voice.

  15. Josie said:

Thanks so much for sharing that, Fred. I’ve been reading your site and Robyn’s site for a few months now, and I really appreciate how open and funny and inspirational the two of you are.

While my face has never been irritated by shaving against the grain and even though I get a much closer shave shaving that way, I also started shaving with the grain a few days ago, just to see if I could tell any difference. So far ….. other that feeling a lot scruffier later in the day, I can’t tell much difference. I’ll continue for a few weeks to see what happens.

Fred …. that’s a great news story! Well done.

  17. Fred said:

Thanks all for the kind comments. Trust me, there ain’t gonna be an audio version of the book any time soon. I’m still in the red by about $2K on the paperback edition (though I think I’ll break even by sometime in January). Besides, who’d want a book read by Kermit the Frawg? :)

    —–

Martin, I’m with you on the scruffy feeling, but I have to say my massive rashy-looking-razorburn-bumpy-red-stuff has all but vanished since I switched up. Now, after doing it this way for about a week, I look practically (practically) normal.

So Fred, why don’t you post before and after pics of the “against the grain” and “with the grain” shaving methods. My curiousity has been piqued.

  19. Santana said:

Hi Fred. Great job with the story. I think they say 200 lost because they mistakenly add the first 26(think that was the number) you lost in the first two weeks with the 171 you end up losing total. I thought that was how much you lost until you clarified. Anyway- I wrote about you in my journal and had readers ask about your book (see entry Nov.15th)-hope you sell a few more from there- I love your attitude and your ability to maintain your weight loss without a mental struggle is inspiring. Seriously, your attitude of just doing it keep me on track. Thank you again.

Thanks for sharing the clip! Your voice was nothing like I expected… is that a good thing? I’m kidding!!!

Your book is on my Xmas list!

  22. Marcia said:

Been with you since the beginning of your journal and it was nice to hear your voice! I agree–can Oprah be far away??

  23. Fred said:

Trust me, she couldn’t be further away. :)

  24. Mary said:

FRED ROCKS. I just watched the clip, and must concur that you sound slightly different than I’d imagined.

Your story has also kept ME motivated on my healthy-me quest. Thanks again for sharing yourself with the world.

Best to you this Thanksgiving weekend.

You definitely need to be on Oprah….or think about being a motivational speaker~nice voice!

  26. john said:

    Fred,

No Audio book?? Then how about a Powertalk session with Anthony Robbins?!

  27. Pauleene said:

Didn’t I read a few journals ago that Fred was disillusioned by Anthony Robbins?…bout the time he got disillusioned with Dr Phil..?

Anyway great video clip, with no problems with the sound. Fred you really remind me of John F. Kennedy Jnr. think it’s the eyes.
