Fruitcake

First off, thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts on the book, I appreciate them. If you’ve read it and are of a mind, please consider posting a brief review on Amazon.

It looks like we’re going to have a fruity year at Crooked Acres:

Pears. I can’t wait for these. The tree is covered, and has grown
five feet or more in the two years we’ve had it. Probably our best tree.

Plums

Apples (and the onset of rust!)

Muscadines (wild grapes, to you non-southerners)

Nectarines

Peaches

This year we’ve added something new, but it may not work because it gets kind of cold here in the winter for these guys. But, each of the following trees was marked down from $75 to $17.50 at Lowe’s. For that price, how can we not at least try?

Satsuma oranges

Key limes

Tangerines

Kumquats (still buds)

A couple of weeks ago at the Music Hack Day in San Francisco, a developer by the name of Tristan Jehan released a Python script that will turn any song into swing by time-stretching the first half of each beat while time-shrinking the second half.

The results are pretty dang impressive (and somewhat humorous, and VERY catchy) :

Sweet Child O’ Mine (Swing Version) by plamere

“Take on Me” - a Ha

“American Idiot” - Green Day

“Phantom of the Opera” - Andrew Lloyd Webber

Awesome, no?

If you’d like you swing-ify some of your own MP3s, you can use the handy tool here.
