Adventures in freakdom.
…with cats.

I think Robyn purposefully took that picture from the angle she did, to make my flappy neck look as big and bloated as possible, and my head tiny, like Zippy. I’m sure it didn’t help that I was more laying down than sitting on the couch.
Fred .. have you lost any chicken to prey? ie. Hawks, foxes, bobcats, dogs, etc.
Not that I know of, since the three we lost to a raccoon back in April. However, it’s entirely possible that we’ve lost one or two. When you have this many you can’t really keep track of them.
How do you keep track of them all?
Funny you should ask…
How will you protect the chickens from hawks? Is there a greater threat in a larger yard?
Right now, I rely on the roosters. In the spring, I’ll plant some covering foliage. Most of the hawks seem to have moved on through for now. We get a lot during migratory season, but a lot less during the rest of the year.
Wait…..what did I miss? Gassing chickens? Have you discussed this before because I do not remember it. If not details please…you got my cuiosity up now?
Do you still exercise outside of the farm chores? If so, when do you get that in?
Yeah, but not nearly as rigorously as I used to when we lived in the burbs. Generally, I do the elliptical on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at about 4:45 in the morning. While neither elbow hurts, generally speaking, after a long day of working they both do, so I’m staying off the weights.
A different look at two favorites.
